According to the available literature, Cleopatra, the last Queen of Egypt, was the product of 27 generations of brother and sister genetic mating.

She was regarded as very beautiful and highly intelligent.

Innnnteresting stuff. Will have to dig into it. Thank you.

Brother and sister mating, as well as polygamy, was the norm among people with money and political power up until the Catholic Church, in need of soldiers for war, outlawed it around 500 AD.

In Egyptian Arabian horse breeding, breeding back to the sire has long been done to improve the breed.

Supposedly.

I think Catherine the Great was said to have "bred" with her horse (not sure if that was ta improve the "breed" but given her hubby Peter was NUTs an' notta "stallion"! I guess she felt a little equine blood "coursin' " thru her veins was better than watchin' beets ferment...

Catherine the Great actually helped start the Arab breeding program in Russia!

This article sounds legit;

"It’s thought that after her death, her enemies wanted to discredit all the work she had done. She had accomplished a lot during her reign but not everyone was happy with the changes. There were never any rumors of her being intimate with a horse prior to her death, but someone must have decided she couldn’t defend herself after she’s dead"

wow now ain't that synchronicity! (so wuz the rumor true? neigh! / shucks but it's a good'un anyway!) LOVE that she "took off" with the "in-bred" horse breedin' endeavor tho'--she was indeed a "horsey gal!"

She seemed to have pissed off and/or slept with every European ruler. All men of course.

And expanded Russian borders by 200,000 square miles, not to mention acquiring Alaska.

But her big thing, besides horses, were the arts, and she exponentially expanded all of them.

Seems if it moved (live birth ye know) & an' grew to the right line-age... they were ta marry it to carry on the bloodline...no matter how fugly they ended up. I wonder if they also bred with animated characters ("lines" and all...)? This one has a chin big enuf ta trip over!

fwiw the Roosevelts--Eleanor & Franklin--were 5th cousins--Eleanor was def. the more handsome! Franklin had the better "gams" tho' (not bein' able to walk helped I guess?)

Great post!!! Kind of alters our perception of history in a troubling way. How is it that millions died fighting their wars? Have we already been bred to not do the common sense thing and bring these imbeciles down?! Bringing it up to present day, it seems so.... We see, but we don't DO...

(watching biden's final insult in pardoning his kid-a crime family for decades. But he promised...-just breeds more crime and impunity)

Chin or no chin Habsburgs, it's always bothered me King George V let his cousin, Tsar Nicholas II and his wife and all their children be murdered in 1918, by not giving them shelter in England.

Gotta say, that Hapsburg jaw looks a bit like Trump's fake patsy assassin.
